ALEX OTAOLA
GRAPHIC DESIGN
BANNER
For Alex Otaola’s mayoral campaign in Miami-Dade, Magicommerce was tasked with creating a poignant banner commemorating the 122nd anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Cuba. This project presented a unique opportunity to blend historical Cuban symbols with contemporary political messaging aimed at resonating deeply within the Cuban-American community.
The banner features a striking combination of iconic Cuban imagery and modern graphic elements. The foreground highlights Alex Otaola in a confident pose, symbolizing leadership and forward-thinking. The background, showcasing the Morro Castle and a stylized Cuban flag, evokes a sense of pride and nostalgia. The design is anchored by a bold red color scheme that draws from the Cuban flag, reinforced by the use of white stars and the ocean’s deep blue, reflecting the colors of independence and freedom.
Incorporating a bilingual approach, the banner text celebrates the historical context while also promoting Otaola’s vision for the future. Phrases like “Let’s do it differently” and historical references are interwoven to create a narrative that appeals to heritage and progressive change. The campaign slogan and anniversary message are designed to motivate the community by invoking shared values and aspirations.
We ensured that the design was visually compelling and highly functional across various media. The inclusion of a QR code adds an interactive element, allowing for direct engagement and access to more detailed campaign information. The layout is optimized for clarity and impact, ensuring that each component, from imagery to typography, works harmoniously to capture the viewer’s attention.
This banner design proved a powerful tool in Alex Otaola’s campaign arsenal, effectively bridging historical significance with electoral influence. It served as a reminder of Cuba’s past and a beacon of hope for future governance in Miami-Dade.
At Magicommerce, we specialize in creating designs that tell a story and engage an audience. This project is a testament to our ability to handle complex themes with creative finesse, delivering messages that resonate both culturally and politically.
